Warragul Rotary business dinner “hots up”

 

Building business resilience is the focus of an annual fund raising dinner to be held by the Rotary Club of Warragul.  The dinner, to be held on Monday 1st April, will enable businesses attending to network, hear new ideas and contribute funds to a worthy local cause.

 

How well prepared is your business to respond to more frequent and intense extreme weather events, such as extended periods of heat, bush fires and storms?

This year’s recipient is the Neerim District Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The money will contribute to the cost of installing new energy efficient heating equipment that reduces costs and environmental impacts.

 

Forty per cent of businesses fail to open after a disaster. More frequent and intense extreme weather events are presenting increasing risks to communities. Businesses play a critical role in supporting their communities during emergency response and recovery. Business continuity and resilience planning can make a significant difference.

 

Guest speakers Victoria Chantra and Allan Klindworth of AECOM will share two approaches that have been used to support business resilience to natural disasters. They will draw upon their experiences working with communities following natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and devastating bushfires in Tasmania.
